Terms of Use

Article 1 — Purpose

These Terms of Use define the conditions under which Kortilabs provides the "Facturx Validator" service: a free online tool and REST API for checking the compliance of electronic invoices against the EN 16931 standard (Factur-X/CII and UBL 2.1, exhaustive coverage), plus a documented core rule set for Peppol BIS Billing 3.0, FatturaPA (Italy) and Verifactu (Spain) — see /formats for the exact coverage of each format actually implemented.

Article 2 — Access to the service

Access to the web tool requires no registration. Access to the REST API is free and subject to a rate limit of 60 requests per minute per IP address by default (Free tier), with no authentication required. An optional Pro tier raises this limit to 600 requests per minute upon presentation of a valid license key — see /tarifs for pricing and Article 8 below.

Article 3 — Scope of validation and limits

The service validates Factur-X/CII and UBL 2.1 documents against the full EN 16931 rule set (exhaustive coverage), and Peppol BIS Billing 3.0, FatturaPA and Verifactu documents against a documented core set of the most commonly cited rules for each scheme — not the full official schema or Schematron (e.g. not the complete OpenPeppol Schematron, not the full FatturaPA XSD, not the Verifactu hash chain / electronic signature). Any format not listed on /formats is not implemented: any submission of it returns an explicit HTTP 501 response, never a simulated compliance result.

A "compliant" result reflects only the rules implemented by this engine at the time of the request, and for Peppol BIS Billing 3.0, FatturaPA and Verifactu it never implies exhaustive compliance with the official specification. It does not constitute legal, tax or accounting advice, and does not replace the validation carried out by an official platform (e.g. Chorus Pro, a PDP/PPF, SdI, AEAT, or any partner validation portal).

Article 4 — No data retention

Files and XML content submitted for validation are processed entirely in memory and are never persisted, stored, or logged by Kortilabs. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Article 5 — Availability

The service is provided on a best-effort basis, with no uptime guarantee. Kortilabs reserves the right to modify, suspend or discontinue the service at any time, in particular in case of abuse or excessive load.

Article 6 — Liability

Kortilabs cannot be held liable for any direct or indirect damage resulting from the use of the service, including in the event of an incorrect validation result, unavailability, or reliance on the service for a legal or fiscal obligation.

Article 7 — Pro tier and license keys

The Pro tier is activated by a license key purchased from Kortilabs via LemonSqueezy and presented in the Authorization: Bearer header of API requests. The service is stateless: no Kortilabs account is created, and the key itself is the sole access credential. The user is responsible for keeping their license key confidential; Kortilabs cannot be held liable for usage made under a key that has been shared or compromised. A key that fails validation automatically falls back to the Free tier limit, with no service interruption.

Article 8 — Governing law

These Terms of Use are governed by French law. Any dispute falls under the exclusive jurisdiction of French courts.
